Director of the Indian Institute for Romani Studies at Chandigarh, India, Dr. Rishi was a relatively early pioneer in making the linguistic and other arguments which have established India as the land of origin of the Roma. He has remained a strong champion for Romani rights and the accurate portrayal of the Roma as a people and a nation.
